Kalimansko Lake

An artificial lake on the rivers Bregalnica and Kamenicka Reka, built in 1969. The dam is rocky-clay with clay core, 92 m high and 240 m long. The lake has a length of 14 km, it is 0.3 km wide, and the maximum depth reaches 80 m. It covers an area of 4.23 km2 and accumulates 127 million cubic meters of water.
The main purpose of the lake is irrigation of about 28,000 ha, mainly rice surfaces in the Kocanska Valley, but also on some of the cultivated areas in Ovce Pole. For that purpose, two canals were built, the right of which is 98 km long and the water is brought to Ovce Pole, while the left is 36 km long and irrigates the areas in the Kochani Field.
Excess water is used to generate electricity through a built small hydropower plant with installed power of 13.8 MW.
